Turn your Windows 7 Laptop into a Wi-Fi hotspot

Connectify is a freeware tool that easily turn your pc or laptop running Windows 7 into a virtual Wi-Fi access point, a Window 7 supposed feature ability, but unfortunately Microsoft didn't include the feature in the final release of windows.

Connectify allows you to share the internet connection of your laptop with other users. It is also handy for keeping all your mobile devices connected from one internet source without having to rely on wireless routers. Just like any other Wi-Fi access point, you can set a login password with WPA2 Encryption to keep you safe and secure from any unauthorized connection.

Even without an active Internet connection, you can still run a Connectify hotspot. This provides wireless access to shared folders or drives on your network as well as the ability to play LAN games with others.

Once installed, click on the Connectify logo in the Notification Tray.
  • Choose a name for your new wireless network
  • Choose a wireless password
  • If the Mode box is visible, select "Access Point" if it is in the menu, otherwise, use "Ad Hoc".
  • Click the large Start Hotspot button to turn on your wireless network
  • Now, from your other devices, you can see your wireless network. Choose to join it, and enter the   wireless password to connect.
